In My Words
Being a wedding and event planner in the Bay Area, I was exposed to many different venues, but there was one location that immediately captured my heart, and that was Shelldance Orchid Gardens. Shelldance is nestled on the hillside in Pacifica, and overlooks the ocean and the city. What I love about this venue is the quaint yet natural decor of various ornaments, and its lush green plants, along with its overarching Spanish Moss. I first visited Shelldance a few years ago, for a styled wedding shoot, and knew I wanted to get married there. This was before I even met my husband! Once we got engaged, Shelldance was the first and only venue we visited, and we booked it right away.
For our wedding, I chose vendors who were near and dear to me and Blushing Joy Events. These vendors helped and encouraged me in many ways in the beginning of my business, and I wanted to include them in our special day. Our wedding invitations were carefully crafted by Tia Joy Kim, who hand-painted all the watercolor elements, and later put together by Kelly Design Co, who added the graphic designs. It was perfectly romantic yet simple. Our florals were arranged by My Wedding Sense, who also designed and hand-crafted a wooden backboard for our ceremony, and adorned the stage with hanging glass terrariums with florals. Various types of gold and silver vases, filled with blush, coral, and peach florals lined our guest tables. We chose light blue linen to brighten the space, and placed linen matte stoneware with white hemstitched napkins on the tables. The napkins were decorated with greenery and a personalized name card. To match our plate setting, we chose beautiful white and gold flatware from Frances Lane.
We wanted to DIY something for our wedding, so we chose to make our own table number holders and seating chart frame with copper pipes. One of our favorite things to do is explore specialty coffee cafes, so we thought it would be fun to use our favorite cafe names as “table numbers”. We found each cafe’s logos, and customized them to match the whole look, with the help of Kelly Design Co. The seating chart was printed on fabric, and hung on our DIY copper poles, adorned with greenery.
We ended the night with our favorite desserts : boba from The Boba Guys, and mini doughnuts from Hookt Mini Doughnuts. Our guests enjoyed these, while dancing the night away with light-up sunglasses and glowsticks. Our favorite part of our wedding day was sharing our personal vows to each other and our friends and family. Although, there were lots of tears, it was a very memorable moment for both of us. It was the perfect day, and we wish we could live through it again!
